My name is Jayme and I had a very difficult time while in perimenopause. I honestly thought I was going crazy. I had many symptoms, including anxiety, panic attacks, depression and major weight gain. Now that I am post-menopausal and most symptoms have subsided, I am working to get back to my pre-menopause weight and mindset. While going through a wide range of symptoms, I discovered that support for menopausal women left a lot to be desired. That's why I decided to start Fit in Menopause, so that I could share my menopause experience, my journey back to good health and resources that could be helpful to women in the menopause transition and beyond.
My hope is to provide women with the support that I could not find while dealing with so many issues and not knowing if I would ever feel good again. Spoiler alert - I finally do feel good again, but I still struggle with anxiety and depression, and getting the weight off has been a challenge.
In trying to get my body back after the menopause weight gain, I have come to realize that many of the fitness coaches "specializing" in helping women in their 40's, 50's +, have no idea what we go through during the change of life...they are either 30-something women or men. Not that they are not good at what they do, but they do not understand the emotional roller coaster and physical fatigue that comes with perimenopause.
I want to help! My goal is to take my experience from my own health journey and the knowledge from courses I'm taking and use it to coach women who are need of guidance in fitness, nutrition and overall wellness.
I recently earned my Certification in Nutrition Coaching from Precision Nutrition and am currently working on my Master Health Coach Certification from PN and Certified Personal Trainer credentials from NASM. I also completed Dr. Stacy Sims online course, Menopause 2.0: Next Level Training for Optimal Performance. Additionally, I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Riverside and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Southern California.
